Mary LaFond
MEDFIELD: Mary Ann LaFond (Shields) died peacefully on Wednesday January 18, 2017 at the Thomas Upham House in Medfield surrounded by her loving family. She was 81.

Raised and educated in Newton, Mary was the daughter of the late John and Mary (Burke) Shields.
Mary was employed as a Supervisor for Friendly's Ice Cream, and Executive Secretary for Hosey Import both of Medfield. She was a member and Communicant at St. Edward the Confessor Church for over 40 years.

Mary enjoyed listening to classical music and Piano by George Winston. She also enjoyed gardening, sewing, painting traveling, decorating and antiquing. Along with her children and grandchildren, she was passionate about giving to charities that supported animals. Most people that knew her would describe her as a fun loving, optimistic and energetic mother, grandmother and friend. She will be missed dearly.

Mary was the loving mother of Karen Lundstrom and her husband Scott of Medfield, Michele LaFond of Norfolk, John LaFond and his wife Jennifer of Norfolk and Douglas LaFond and his wife Sarah of Halifax. Cherished sister of Susan McLean and her husband David. Grandchildren Steven, Erik, Michael and Jeffery Lundstrom, Katherine, Olivia, Isabel and Joseph LaFond. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by siblings John "Jack" Shields and Helen Mullin.

Funeral Mass will be Tuesday, Jan 24th 10AM at St. Edward the Confessor Church, 133 Spring St, Medfield. Burial will be at a later date. Visiting hours will be Monday 4-7 at the Roberts Mitchell FH, 15 Miller St. Medfield.

UPDATE: Burial will take place on Saturday, June 24th at 11am at St. Joseph's Cemetery, W. Roxbury.
