Obituary for Joan Ouellette

Joan Ouellette
BELLINGHAM: Joan M. (Ruckenbrod) Ouellette died at her home in Bellingham Friday May 26, 2017 surrounded by her loving family. She was 91.

Born in Boston, she was the daughter of the late George and Mildred (Conselman) Ruckenbrod. She was raised and educated in Melrose and earned her RN at Melrose Hospital School of Nursing.

Joan was employed at Mass Eye and Ear, Mass General Hospital. After her marriage in 1947 she did private duty nursing until settling in Medfield in 1957. She then worked at the Medfield State Hospital until her retirement in 1998. Devoted to her large family and caring for others, Joan also enjoyed reading, knitting and working puzzles.

Joan was the beloved wife of the late Alfred J. Ouellette and mother of the late Paul Ouellette, she is survived by six children, Joseph Ouellette of Franklin, George Ouellette of Bellingham, Suzanne Hamilton of Westwood, Marie Ouellette and her late husband Franz Poblenz of Franklin, Michelle DiNapoli and husband Michael of Bellingham, and Jean Ouellette and his loving companion Loraine Lee. Also survived by grandchildren Joanna, Michael, Annie, Jessica, Michael, Lisa, Christina and Amanda and six great grandchildren.

Her funeral service will be held at the Roberts-Mitchell Funeral Home, 15 Miller Street, Medfield, on Thurs June 1st at 11:00a.m. Burial to follow at Vine Lake Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Wed 5-7p.m.
