Obituary for Eileen Shackley

Eileen Shackley
MEDFIELD: Eileen Rose Shackley died peacefully Friday, June 30, 2017 at the Brigham and Woman's Hospital in Boston surrounded by her loving family. She was 76.
Raised and educated in Dedham, MA, she was the loving daughter of the late James and Mary (Campbell) McDonnell.
Eileen was employed by Barnes and Jones where she made many of her lifelong friends. She went on to work and eventually retired from the Walpole Corporative Bank in 2007. She was a Medfield resident for more than 50 years and during that time, was parishioner, and member of the St. Edward Church choir. She loved the company of her family and many friends. She especially enjoyed singing whenever the occasion called and even when it didn’t. She was always quick with a joke and a smile and could make a friend from a stranger in an instant. Eileen was a very caring woman, whether it was a call or a note sent to a friend she constantly gave of her time to family and friends without hesitation. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her favorite way to spend an afternoon was with her grandchildren. Eileen was an active member of the community spending ample time in the Medfield senior center and part of a local bowling team.
Eileen was the beloved wife of George A. Shackley, loving mother of Stephen Shackley and his wife Patrice of Mansfield and Suzanne Shackley and her spouse Dawna of Millis. Cherished sister of John McDonnell and his wife Kathy, Michael McDonnell and his wife Judy. She was predeceased by her brother James and sisters Mary and Patricia. She is also survived by grandchildren; Robert Mitchell III, Danielle Burgess, Amanda Shackley and Danielle Shackley. In addition she is survived by many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Mass will be Saturday, July 15th, 11 am at St. Edward the Confessor Church, 133 Spring Street, Medfield. Lunch to follow at parish center.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing may make contributions in Eileen's name to:
