Obituary for Gerard Zitoli
Gerard "Gerry" Anthony Zitoli (born August 26, 1956) Loving husband and dedicated father, died of a heart attack while cycling in New Hampshire on August 6, 2017. Gerry was born and raised in Roslindale to Anthony J. Zitoli and Anne J. (Crowley) Zitoli. He attended Xaverian Brothers High School, where he was the class president and graduated with an honors degree in political science from St. Francis Xavier University in Nova Scotia, where his thesis explored domestic spying by the FBI and CIA during the civil rights era. Gerry returned to Boston to attend Suffolk University Law School. During this time he met his future wife and fellow attorney, Nancy M. Savoie. The two moved to Medfield together in 1992 where they raised their children Michael R. Zitoli and his partner Sarah Hu and Sarah E. Zitoli and her fiancé Michael "Dewey" Dewhirst. He loved and appreciated all music especially classical and blues and had an encyclopedic knowledge of everything WWII. He doted on his dogs, who were always the "best" dogs. Gerry's motto was "if you fail to plan you plan to fail", and he lived by these words, preparing for the zombie apocalypse at every chance he had. He always put others first and was a fiercely loyal friend. He worked as a counsel for Tufts Health Plan for over 27 years and leaves behind many dear friends and esteemed colleagues. Gerry is also survived by his aunt and godmother Eileen (Crowley) Kiley, his brothers Frank of Millis, Steve of Chelsea and Paul of Westwood, his godsons Patrick Curley and Charlie Kiley and many cousins, nephews and nieces. A wake will be held on Thursday August 10, 2017 from 4-8 at the Roberts-Mitchell FH, 15 Miller St, Medfield. A celebration of his life will take place Friday at 11am in the First Parish Church, Unitarian Universalist, 26 North St, Medfield. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to Bikes not Bombs, https://bikesnotbombs.org/donate.
